Mandalorian Star Hints At Potential Season 3 Release Date
The Mandalorian Season 3 could be heading to our screens a lot sooner than we thought. At least, according to Star Wars villain Giancarlo Esposito.
During an interview with The Rich Eisen Show, Esposito hinted that the new season of The Mandalorian could debut on Disney Plus this summer.
“You’ll get it soon, you’ll get it soon,” he said. “I’ve got a few more things to do in regards to that to put some finishing touches on it in what I do. But I think it will be sometime this summer. No date set yet, but it’s coming soon.”
It sounds as though Esposito doesn’t have much left to film, and that’s not surprising considering that production wrapped back in March. Of course, it’s likely he still has the odd reshoot or ADR left to complete. But The Mandalorian could well be a lot closer to returning than we thought.
That’s a welcome bit of news for fans of Pedro Pascal’s helmeted Mandalorian after he made his brief (but significant) appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. In fact, some of us, myself included, felt that The Mandalorian’s episodes were some of the best in an otherwise rather mediocre show.
A summer return for The Mandalorian then would be welcome indeed.
But it would also fly in the face of the show’s earlier seasons, both of which debuted around Christmastime in 2020 and 2021.
The Mandalorian Season 3 was expected to follow this pattern, debuting sometime around the festive period in 2022. And with the upcoming Obi-Wan show debuting on May 25, 2022, it just doesn’t leave an awful lot of time for The Mandalorian.
After all, the six-episode Obi-Wan show is expected to run weekly until June 22.
Will The Mandalorian follow on so shortly after the Obi-Wan series, or will it debut, once again, in its usual Christmas slot? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But Moff Gideon seems to think it’s only a matter of time.
