The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Book Box Sets Are on Sale for Half Off

Here’s a deal for anyone with room for a box set on their bookshelf. Right now Amazon has a pair of four-book box sets containing The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy marked down over half price. You can pick up the paperback set for $14.74 or the deluxe set for $27.91. Either way you go, you’re saving a nice chunk of change on a set of excellent books.

Alternatively, if you want to grab The Lord of the Rings Illustrated Edition, which was published late last year, you can pick it up for nearly half off right now as well.

The deluxe box set houses pocket-sized versions of the books that are 5.9 inches tall. That’s about the size of a traditional mass market paperback book — a trim size I actually prefer over the standard giant hardcover size. That size is easier to hold in your hands, and the pages don’t have giant blocks of text on them. Maybe that’s just me. Each of the four novels feature a flexible leatherette cover with the title stamped into it. They’re also housed in a leatherette bound box with gold foil stamping.

If you’re wondering about the size or the quality of the binding, take a look at the reviews on the Amazon page. You’ll find plenty of photos and videos uploaded by people who purchased the set.

The paperback set includes all four books with complementary covers, housed in a cardboard display box. As for the books themselves, you get The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. These are timeless classics you may well have read at least once before. But if you’re in the market for a new matching set of the books, you might as well grab these while they’re over half off.
