Seth MacFarlane Will Play Ted Again in a Peacock Series
Ted will return in his own upcoming TV series, with a pretty impressive cast.
According to Variety, the foul-mouthed teddy bear is getting his very own TV show over at Peacock, with Seth MacFarlane returning to voice the character.
But that’s not all – the cast is already shaping up with three other new additions.
Giorgia Whigham, Max Burkholder, and Scott Grimes have all reportedly signed on to the series.
Whigham is perhaps best known for the role of Amy in Netflix’s comic book series, The Punisher. Appearing in Season 2 of the hit show, she formed a strong bond with Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) after he saves her from being attacked in a bar.
Burkholder shot to fame after starring in the hit horror flick The Purge as Charlie Sandin – the son of a wealthy family who made their fortune selling anti-purge security systems. He made his film debut in Daddy Day Care and has also voiced animated characters in Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show.
Grimes is a frequent collaborator of MacFarlane’s, voicing Steve Smith in American Dad as well as Kevin Swanson in Family Guy. He also starred as Lieutenant Gordon Malloy in The Orville.
The Ted TV series will take place in 1993 – long before the films.
In this new story, John Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg in the movies, is just 16 years old. With Ted’s moment of fame behind him, he lives with John in his working-class Boston home.
“Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family,” Variety writes.
Unsurprisingly, Burkholder will take the role of the young John Bennett, while Whigham plays Blaire Bennett – his older, outspoken cousin who’s not afraid to clash with her family. Grimes will take the role of Matty Bennett, John’s blue-collar father.
Essentially acting as a prequel, it looks as though the Ted series will further expand MacFarlane’s impressive TV pedigree. Whether it will prove to be any good is another matter entirely.
