Audible and Skybound’s Impact Winter Gets a Prequel Comic

Audible’s post-apocalyptic vampire series Impact Winter already has a strong comic book pedigree, as it’s a coproduction with Robert Kirkman and David Alpert’s company Skybound Entertainment. Now this audio drama is coming full circle, as Skybound has revealed a new prequel comic set years before the events of the Audible series.

Impact Winter #1 is a 40-page standalone comic hitting stores in July. Check out the slideshow gallery below for an exclusive first look at this tie-in:

Impact Winter #1 is written by Pacific Rim’s Travis Beacham, who also created the audio series. The book features art by Stephen Green (Hellboy and the BPRD), colors by Matt Hollingsworth (Batman: White Knight) and letters by AndWorld Design.

This issue is set several years before the events of the audio series. By this point, human civilization has already crumbled thanks to a devastating comet strike and the ensuing vampire takeover. This issue is meant to tell a self-contained story set within this post-apocalyptic universe, while also giving fans new insight into sword-wielding heroine Darcy’s past and the events that lead to her journey in the main story.

“We are so excited to be expanding the epic world of Impact Winter into comic books, and working on this prequel with both Travis and Stephen has been a fantastic experience,” said editor Amanda LaFranco in Skybound’s press release. “If you’re new to the world of Impact Winter, Darcy’s journey will pull you in and make you want to stick around for more. And if you’re already a fan, this story will shine a light on details that have been brewing since Episode One. It’s a story you do not want to miss!”

Impact Winter #1 will arrive in comic shops and digital comics services on July 6, 2022.
