Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy Announced
THQ Nordic and Forzenbyte have finally announced Trine 5, titled A Clockwork Conspiracy, for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief, and Pontius the Knight are back for what’s promised to be their most action-packed journey to date, though it won’t veer away from complex puzzles either.
“Whether by yourself or playing with up to three friends in online and local co-op, the Heroes of Trine must reunite to push back a fearsome Clockwork army and bring peace and justice to the land,” reads the official synopsis. “The clock is ticking to save the world of Trine.”
Players will explore a range of environments on their adventure from glistening gemstone caverns to perilous underwater passageways, always on the look-out for dastardly and duplicitous villains who will stop at nothing to seize control of the kingdom.
Trine 5 will also introduce some new technology as puzzles will change in difficulty depending on how many players are facing them. It also offers a skill quest system and new tactical, multi-phase boss fights.
No release date was given for Trine 5, though the game does appear to be relatively far along as evidenced by the reveal trailer and screenshots above.
It’s been almost four years since fans last got their hands on a new Trine game, when Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince launched in October 2019.
In our 8/10 review, IGN said: “Trine 4 is beautiful and perhaps a bit too straightforward for solo players, but it shines brilliantly in co-op.”
